BeKonstructive Marketing are excited to announce that we are hiring! We are on the search for a Casual Assistant Copywriter. This is a paid casual position starting at 8 hours per week with the potential to build up to 20 hours per week as we grow and bring on more clients.

This role is ideal for – and intended for – a Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related student or graduate. Please do not apply for this position if you are not a current student or recent graduate.

The Position:

This position will be heavily focused on copywriting – you will be responsible for producing marketing copy for a range of collateral including fact sheets, brochures, blogs, email marketing, whitepapers and more. You will be required to write the materials in line with the strategic direction of the project and in the brand tone of voice. You’ll be working alongside our company director who will help guide the strategy and provide you with your briefs as well as one-on-one feedback.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys writing, has strong written communication skills, and is wanting to learn more about the marketing strategy behind customer journeys and user behaviour.

Some other info:

The position will be at our Brisbane office on Edward Street in the CBD. You will be able to come in one full day per week or two half days – whatever suits your study and schedule better. You will be paid casual rates in accordance with the Clerks – Private Sector Award [MA000002] which you can view here. We will provide a laptop/computer and work station etc for you to work from.

Your Experience:

This role is ideal for someone who has had a little bit of experience beyond coursework, ideally an internship or a previous role in an office environment. This is very much a junior role and designed for someone in their last year of study or a recent graduate.

Why Do I Need Experience?

We are looking for someone who can – excuse the cliché – “hit the ground running”. Someone who has developed some soft skills like time management, communication, organisation, and routine in a professional environment. Someone who has experienced office life – even if it has only been a brief taste so far – and understands what is expected of them in terms of punctuality, participation and collaboration.

We are also looking for someone who has some experience with the concepts of tracking their time, of sticking to deadlines and budgets, prioritising tasks, and who has used a task or project management system previously (we use Wrike, but experience with Trello, Monday, Asana etc is relevant here).

And more specifically – we are looking for someone who has firsthand experience of the copywriting process. Someone who has written marketing materials for brands outside of university assignments; who has had their work critiqued and edited; who has implemented revisions and feedback to produce pieces that are now being actively used in real campaigns.

Bonus Experience:

While the main skill set we are looking for is a related to copywriting (writing experience + marketing knowledge), there are some additional skills and knowledge that while not required, would be highly beneficial for the role.

You’ll be learning a lot about mapping customer journeys and communication touchpoints in this position, which ties in with a lot of marketing theory. Any practical knowledge or experience that you have in relation to this would definitely be worth mentioning in your application. Further, any additional skills or experience you have that relate to our full range of content marketing services (social media management, email marketing, SEO etc), would also be beneficial.

About BeKonstructive Marketing:

BeKonstructive Marketing are a Brisbane-based content marketing team. We are on a mission to provide as many young workers with the paid work experience that they need to land their first full-time industry role in marketing and communications. Our ultimate goal is to have a workforce that is made up of at least 70% young casual workers who are in their final year or so of study. The idea is that students in their last 12-18 months of study are able to gain 1-2 days of paid experience per week, which will help them land their first full time position when they graduate. We are *well aware* that many “entry level” positions within our industry want applicants that have 1-2 years of experience – so our positions are designed to help you gain that experience while you’re still studying.

BeKause Internships:

In addition to offering paid casual positions in roles like copywriting and social media management, we also run an internship program called ‘BeKause’ that pairs unpaid interns with probono not-for-profit clients. Our internship program is for students and graduates who have zero industry experience – we teach you practical skills and help you build up a portfolio while you work on helping not-for-profits grow their audience and deliver greater results. If you’d like to learn more about the program, click here.

Our Values:

It is important that all of our team members align with BeKonstructive Marketing’s values. We are compassionate and we thrive on sharing knowledge and empowering each other. Collaboration, communication and consideration are core to how we do things at BeKonstructive – we share our skills and knowledge, we celebrate each other’s wins, and we work to each other’s strengths.

HOW TO APPLY:

If you are interested in applying for the position, then please send your resume and cover letter along with at least one sample of writing to bek@bekonstructive.com.au. We will be conducting interviews shortly after the Easter Break.
