BeKonstructive Marketing have been working closely with Brisbane City Cycling since January 2020.

Brisbane City Cycling offer guided bike tours of Brisbane River on Saturday mornings. At BeKonstructive, we love working with local female founded businesses, so our partnership with Helen was a match made in heaven. When Helen approached us, she wanted help with her digital marketing to create a website and some email marketing templates for Brisbane City Cycling. As a brand-new business, it was exciting to be able to start from scratch and see Helen’s business grow from the ground up.

In short, Brisbane City Cycling is a cruisey guided 3-hour bike tour along the Brisbane River, looping from and back to Howard Smith Wharves, and stopping in the middle for morning tea at the West End Markets. Brisbane City Cycling was built upon Helen’s Saturday morning tradition of cycling along the river, past some of Brisbane’s most iconic landmarks, all the way to the West End Markets. Enjoying this so much herself, she knew the experience had to be shared with others – and so Brisbane City Cycling was born.

Website Development & Email Marketing.

Working with Helen was easy because she had such a strong vision for Brisbane City Cycling, but at the same time was happy for us to put our own twist on things. Helen came to us with a beautiful graphic which we used as the header for the website and as the basis for her colour palette. Using our provided framework, Helen wrote her own website copy which was edited by us before being published to the site.

As a startup, Helen chose our affordable base level website package, with an e-commerce add-on so that her customers can book and pay for their tour online. To build the E-Commerce side of her website, we used the WooCommerce plugin for WordPress. However, because paying and booking select tour dates isn’t “traditionally” what WooCommerce is used for, we had to make some alterations so that customers could select tour dates when checking out rather than just buying a product.

Helen also wanted to integrate a level of convenience to her service by allowing customers to sign the mandatory waiver upon checking out. Luckily, the smart waiver app Helen chose was compatible with WordPress, however, it didn’t function exactly how she wanted it to. To resolve the issue, we worked closely with our website developers, WP Sparks, to come up with a custom solution. Finally, we helped Helen set up an email marketing system for Brisbane City Cycling.

What’s Next?

Perhaps the biggest challenge of all was that Helen planned on launching Brisbane City Cycling’s first tour in April, which, unfortunately, due to COVID-19 was postponed. While Helen had to put her launch on hold, we didn’t put our work on hold, making sure Helen was ready to launch as soon as restrictions eased. Now, nearing the end of June 2020, Helen has started her Brisbane City Cycling tours.

In the future, we will continue to support Helen and assist her with marketing services as required. We are really looking forward watching Helen grow her business to a point where she is able to expand the product offering – she has some great ideas for new tours to rollout that aren’t currently offered in Brisbane.
