Social Media Management Packages, Costs and Pricing
If you’re starting to explore the idea of engaging external help for your social media, the very first step isn’t about comparing packages or scrolling through pricing pages.
It’s getting crystal clear on what you actually need help with.
Social media management means different things to different people. For one business, it’s as simple as “can you just post the content I’ve already written?” For another, it’s “I need someone to come up with the strategy, generate ideas, create the content, post it all, and handle comments too.”
Both are valid. But they’re wildly different in terms of time, expertise and cost, which means that it is essential to understand what you need before you start chatting to agencies or freelancers about social media marketing packages.
In this article, we’re breaking down everything you need to know about social media marketing costs, helping you develop a clear understanding of what’s included in standard packages, and what add-ons are available to customise services for your business’s needs.

What Does Day-to-Day Social Media Support Actually Involve?
Let’s say you want to post 2-3 times a week on LinkedIn. You’re not asking for community management or strategy; this is just solid content creation and scheduling for a standard 12 posts.
You’re probably looking at around 10 hours per month minimum, which includes:
- A planning session
- Writing and designing 12 posts (a mix of text, images, graphics, and maybe some video content)
- Scheduling
- End-of-month performance reporting
What if you want that same content repurposed for Instagram or Facebook, or if you have more to say than what fits in the standard 12 posts per month? That means you need more hours to create, tailor, and schedule that extra content.
Considering a paid boost to expand your existing content’s reach beyond organic growth? This comes at an additional cost to cover both the ad spend and the management time needed to optimise your campaign.
Want outreach, audience building, or proactive engagement like replying to comments and DMs? You will need to add extra hours to your original package to cover the cost of having someone log into your accounts on a daily basis, where they’ll reply to all comments, and respond to any direct messages in your inbox.
The more platforms, frequency, engagement, or types of content that you require, the more time you’ll need to achieve the envisioned social media presence you want to build.
Social Media Your Way: What you Want for your Business
Before you even start talking to an agency about pricing, it helps to have a clear idea of what kind of support you’re actually looking for. That way, you’re briefing someone on exactly what you need, which will get you a much more accurate quote than just shopping for a generic social media package.
Are you coming up with the content ideas and providing the key information, or will the agency need to create everything from scratch? If you’re handing over a rough brief, some dot points, or a video transcript, that’s one level of support. But if you’re expecting the agency to fully research, script, design, and write your content? That’s a whole different level of involvement and time.
Next up, assets. Do you already have a strong brand kit, tone of voice guide, and existing templates that can be used? Or will the agency need to build all of that from the ground up? If they need to create visuals and branding from scratch, that will take more time (and increase the price).
Then there’s frequency and platforms. How often do you want to post? Are you just focusing on LinkedIn, or are you looking to share content across multiple platforms like Facebook and Instagram too? And if you are, will it be the same content tweaked slightly for each platform, or different creative altogether? Every extra post, every extra platform adds up in terms of hours needed.
Another key consideration: who’s managing engagement? Will you or someone on your team continue to handle the comments and DMs, or do you want that responsibility outsourced too? And is it just replying to people who comment on your content, or do you also want the agency to help grow your audience through community engagement and outreach?
All of these decisions affect how many hours will be required each month and how much your social media support will cost.
Ballpark Pricing: How much does Social Media Marketing Cost?
If you’re outsourcing social media to a small to medium-sized agency in Australia, expect to start at around $1,500 per month for content creation and implementation on one platform*. The total cost of these packages and services will vary based on the number of hours you need, as they are customised to suit the level of social media management and support your business needs.
While an agency costs more, the value you receive goes beyond just completing tasks. Freelancers or virtual assistants may offer a lower price point, but they are typically focused on administrative duties and basic implementation. They don’t bring the same level of strategic insight, experience, or overall direction that a dedicated team does. Employing a social media agency is more than just paying for another pair of hands; it means you’re investing in a team that brings structure, systems, strategy, and a marketing mindset.
*This is a ‘starting from’ estimate as of April 2025. Every agency is going to have different entry level packages and inclusions as well as pricing structures. Social Media Packages: Deciding Which is the Right Fit for Your Business
When choosing a package that suits your business, it’s all about clearly defining what you want to achieve from your social media efforts. If you want to improve your brand awareness, lead generation, or community engagement, it is important to understand your specific goals to help you find the right support.
So, ask yourself:
- Do you just need someone to help you get posts live each week? Or do you need help creating the content too?
- Will you manage community engagement in-house or would you rather have a dedicated team monitoring comments and DMs to keep your audience engaged for you?
- Are you reusing content across platforms, or creating individual pieces for each one?
- Are you looking for someone to take general social media management off your hands or for someone that can bring strategic marketing experience to the table?

With a clear vision in mind, you’ll be in a much better position to select the right agency or social media package that aligns with your objectives and drives meaningful results for your business.
It’s also beneficial to know what your primary goals for your social media are, as a marketing channel. What does success look like? That way, if you are limited by budget and cannot start with a full-service social media package, your goals can help you decide how to allocate the budget you have available.
For example:
- If your social media audience consists primarily of existing and past customers / clients – then you’re likely going to want to focus on creating a community vibe to keep them engaged with your brand, with the goal of having them become repeat customers and brand advocates. Your primary KPIs are going to be around engagement rate.
- If your social media sits at the top of your marketing funnel, then your primary goal is going to brand awareness and getting your content in front of as many new people as possible. So you’ll want to focus on creating shareable content, as well as outreach activities – your primary KPIs are going to be around reach and impressions.
Knowing what ‘success’ looks like for you is going to help you partner with a social media company to develop a monthly package that will help you reach those goals and allocate your budget accordingly.
BeKonstructive’s Social Media Agency Packages
At BeKonstructive Marketing, we sit in the sweet spot – we have an agency-level structure paired with a pricing model that is closer to that of a freelancer. Our social media packages start at $1,200 (ex gst) per month and are perfect for small businesses looking to grow*.

Entry Level Social Media Package: The focus of this package is to start posting consistently, grow an audience, and get your brand out there. It is ideal for small businesses who are just starting to dip a toe into social marketing, and is a great support for your in-person marketing channels like networking and events.
Investment: Starting at $1,200 ex gst / month.
Engagement-Building Social Media Package: The next step us is all about engagement building. In addition to making sure there is always fresh, insightful content on your social profiles, we also spend a lot of time engaging with your audience. We build feeds of your existing and prospective clients, engaging on their content and making sure that your brand is constantly popping up in their feed, keeping you top-of-mind.
Investment: Starting at $2,200 ex gst / month.
Community-Building Social Media Package: The third tier of social media packages sees us doing a lot more outreach activities for you (in addition to posting regularly on your page and keeping your existing audience and customers engaged with your brand). This is ideal if you’re wanting to reach new audiences and build brand awareness within your target markets. In this package, we’ll often recommend going beyond traditional social media channels and look at setting up profiles for your brand in micro-communities like Reddit, Discord, Pinterest, Slack and anywhere else your target market is hanging out online.
Investment: Starting at $3,400 ex gst / month.
These are just starting points based on general inclusions. We create a custom package with tailored inclusions for all new social media clients. We can create your package based on a specific goal you want to achieve, or the budget you have available. We take this customised approach because there are so many different variables when it comes to social media management – the more you collaborate with us in the content creation space (making yourself available for videos and interviews), the less time we spend creating the actual content, and the more time we can allocate to building engagement with your audience.
To get a better understanding of what we offer and discuss what will work best for your business, the first step is to book a free social media discovery session. The session is no-obligation, and allows us to discuss your business and goals, and gather the information we require to put together a tailored social media proposal for your business.
